“Conservation, not Incarceration”-new painting by Marius

“I received information about the recent adoption of several elephants from sanctuaries in Africa which were experiencing financial trouble and difficulty keeping their elephants from poachers. Instead of helping the groups keep the elephants safe where they are used to living [and, where there would be a chance they could be released someday] opportunistic zoos and fake sanctuaries in the U.S. took advantage of the situation to get their hands on the animals.

The great shame of this is that these highly intelligent, social and sensitive animals are now being “trained” with bullhooks by subsidiaries of Ringling Brothers circuses, and being used for unethical breeding programs, sleeping on concrete floors, separated from their family groups and natural climate and habitat. This is not conservation, but truly incarceration for profit.” – Marius Mason
